Rabbi's Message

Dear ≪First Name or Friend≫,

I smell freedom in the air! It is Passover!

A time to free ourselves of our internal Egypt and limitations!

A time of birth and rebirth of the Jewish people and of each one of us!

A time of miracles and salvation for the Jewish people past, present & future!

A time of redemption for the Jewish People and the world. We aim to complete our journey, which began in Egypt and will finish with Moshiach!

Celebrate with us! We would love to see you for a seder, a holiday meal or a service.

The holiday offers us many opportunities to celebrate together: two seders, two other holiday dinners, one "Meal of Moshiach," four kiddush lunches and services. Even if you cannot join us, I would love to give you a gift of shmurah matzah before the holiday.

Please find a complete holiday schedule below.

Rabbi Yossi Yaffe

PS Don't forget to sell your chametz!

Sell Your Chametz

Use this online form to sell your chametz for Pesach.

Any chametz left undisposed must be sold to a non-Jew. Since there are many legal intricacies involved in this sale, a rabbi acts as our agent: both to sell the chametz to the non-Jew before Pesach, and also to buy it back on the evening after Pesach ends. Use this online form to quickly delegate a rabbi to sell your chametz for you.

Passover campaign

"All who are hungry, come and eat. All in need, come and join the Passover ritual."

The Passover Haggadah

This attitude sets the tone for the seder, for Passover and for the entire year. We as a community are responsible for one another.

Before and during Passover, we help those who are “hungry to come and eat,” and we provide portals for people to “join the Passover ritual” and increase their understanding and appreciation of those rituals through numerous channels: community seders, prayer services and festive meals, classes, visits to the elderly and isolated, and distribution of shmurah matzah.

Our budget for the month of Passover activities is $30,000. Please partner with us! Together we can help with the material, emotional and spiritual needs of our brothers and sisters in the Shoreline Jewish community. Your generous contribution allows us to continue to expand this valuable work.

Thank you!

Rabbi Yossi & Rochel Baila Yaffe

Order Matzah

Please contact us for a gift box of six handmade shmurah matzahs for your seder table, sponsored by Edward/Linda Pinn and Michael/Jo-Ann Price.

“Shmurah” is Hebrew for “guarded.” From the moment of harvest, the wheat in this matzah was guarded against contact with water, which could make the grain leavened (“chametz”), unfit for Passover use. In the same way that writing a mezuzah or crafting a Jewish ritual object is performed with the conscious intent that it be used for a mitzvah, so too every step of making this matzah was performed with the intent that it be used for the seder.

Jewish mystics have called shmurah matzah “the food of faith and healing.” It is important to partake of these special matzahs at the seders. When the Jewish people left Egypt and faithfully followed G‑d into the desert, they imbued their unrisen dough with the power to strengthen faith for all future generations. When you eat shmurah matzah on Passover night, you nourish your faith!

If you or anyone you know would appreciate shmurah matzah, please contact us [email protected]

Meal of Moshiach

Sunday, April 20, 2025 (Eighth/Final Day of Passover)
Afternoon services 7:00 PM
Moshiach Meal  7:20 PM
Evening service & Passover ends at 8:20 PM

Just when you thought you had seen it all! This day, the final day of Pesach, emphasizes an even higher freedom! It is dedicated to our imminent and final redemption.

Following the custom of the Baal Shem Tov, founder of Chassidism, Pesach concludes with  "Seuda of Moshiach." Light refreshments with matzah and, yes, four cups of wine, begins before sunset. It is the perfect way to spiritually take leave of Pesach and open our consciousness to the coming redemption.
